Thiagarajan and Vanaja bring the marriage invitation card and give it to Vaathi's family and ask them to attend the function. But Vaathi returns the thali back leading in friendship between them. When Thiagarajan and Vanaja travel in Vaathi's auto with the thali, they miss the thali in the auto itself. Unexpectedly, there is a rivalry developed between Rajeshwari and Vaathi. The only person who knows all the truth is Meena. As Thiagarajan and Vanaja, Janani and Raj's parents plan both their marriages at the same time, both the marriages are at stake as Raj loves Kaarkuzhali and Raghu loves Vaathi. Janani's brother, Raj is in love with Kaarkuzhali, Vaathi's elder sister and Janaki's first daughter. Rajeshwari plans for Janani's marriage with Raghu soon. When one day Vaathi asks Raghu to show his mother, he shows a flower-seller as his mother and makes Vaathi believe it. All of Meena's plans fail to stop the engagement. Rajeshwari, in the meanwhile, decides that Janani would be a suitable girl to marry Raghu and also successfully completes their engagement without knowing Raghu is in love with Vaathi who is her brother's daughter. Meena and Raghu, now knowing all the truth, try to unite the two families and change Janaki's mindset to let her daughters marry rich men but all their plans go in vain. He shares his love for Vaathi and that she is his uncle's daughter and also that Janaki wants her daughters to marry a good poor man with Meena. Raghu, in the meanwhile, without knowing Vaathi is in love with him, tries to make her fall in love with him. Back in Vaathi's house, she also falls in love with Raghu and tries to propose him but fails in her attempts. Raghu also learns that Janaki is none other than his maternal uncle's wife and that Vaathi and her elder sisters are his uncle's daughters. They complain this to Rajeshwari and she asks Raghu to slap Vaathi in return without knowing that Raghu loves Vaathi and he also slaps her reluctantly. Seeing this, Girija and Sundar, her husband get angry as Vaathi had slapped them when they came with Rajeshwari due to some problem.
He proposes Vaathi one day but she slaps him. Raghu, Rajeshwari's youngest son falls in love with Vaathi while dropping Mukhil and Sumo at her house for learning Tamil from Vaathi's grandfather. Both Mukhil and Sumo introduce Abhishek to Rajeshwari's family as their friend in Tamil tuition and family members do not recognize it as Abhi except Meena. Back in Rajeshwari's house, Mukhil and Girija's son, Sumo learn Tamil from Sekkilar, Janaki's father and develop friendship with Abhishek without knowing that it is Abhi in a boy get-up. Without knowing this Meena says Abhi's situation to Vaathi and she helps Meena by keeping Abhi with her in her house as Abhishek (dressed as a boy). Somehow, Janaki and Rajeshwari's brother led a life with 3 daughters and Janaki's father, but consequently Rajeshwari's brother died within 5 years as per astrological prediction.
Vaathi's father and Rajeshwari were siblings but Rajeshwari had get rid of her brother as he married Janaki, a poor woman whose astrology said that her husband will die within 5 years of marital life. On the way sends goons to kill Abhi but Meena and Abhi are saved by Vaathi, an auto driver. But, Meena secretly takes Abhi away from the hostel, upon Saravanan's request.
Later, Mukhil understands Abhi's good nature and becomes friendly towards her in the course of time but due to the conflicts from Rajeshwari, Girija and others, Abhi is forced to settle in a hostel. Girija and Sundari learn that Abhi is Meena's biological daughter and share this with Eshwaran, Meena's elder brother, who tries to kill Abhi at any cost. Abhi also faces conflicts with Mukhil, Meena and Shiva's pampered son who is jealous of the attention Abhi receives from his mother, Girija, Shiva's younger sister is miser and greedy hates Abhi and Meena, and Rajeshwari, the family matriarch. Eventually, it is revealed that Abhi is in fact the long-lost child of Meena and her husband Shiva who was adopted at a young age by Saravanan, due to an astrological prediction that if the first child born to Meena and Shiva was raised by them, they will not survive when the child is 9 years old. She develops a special bond with Meena, her father's employer.
